Dear MASH Members in Central, Northern, Southern, the East & Overseas,

How are you holding up?
The EXCO 2020-2022 and I extend our warmest regards to you and your family. We cherish you as part of the MASH Community where support, strength and hope are much needed for such a time as this.
I would like to honor the EXCO 2018-2020 and all pioneers for putting their heart and dedication into MASH. They have laid an immensely strong foundation since 1995 upon which MASH continues to grow its recognition and reputation in Malaysia and globally.
Since the handover of baton on August 16, 2020, the new EXCO has had the privilege to learn, listen and leverage on the wisdom and experience of our predecessors. We appreciate the “E-/Meet-ups & Catch-ups” that have contributed towards a seamless transition. Hope you catch a glimpse of the handover process from the array of photos below.

“Honor Tradition, Innovate Future”

Moving forward the EXCO 2020-2022 endeavor to increase our influence nationally. The 1st priority is advocacy & lobbying, within the framework of each Portfolio’s strategic goals – all with a collective focus on the Mission of MASH (read about the Mission).
The EXCO has set forth to increase our voice soon after the official operation of the AHP Act 774, effective July 1, 2020. As advised by The Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council, the planning of implementation is still in progress. We could expect to receive an official
announcement concerning registration and its relevant procedures, tentatively by early 2021.
MASH continues to strengthen our representation in the continuing development of the Standard of Practice of SLP and Audiology. Some key initiatives undertaken to date were meetings with:-

  1. Dato’ Seri Dr. Adnam, YBMK together with the Malaysian Confederation of Allied Health Professional Associations (MyCAHP) on 21 September, 2020.
  2. A key highlight raised was MASH’s consultation in the issuance of “Certificate of Practice”. See attachment.
  3. Dr. Shohba, representative of SLP in Council about the Act policy on Sep 17.
  4. Pn. Wahida, Head of SLP at MOH about potential collaboration on Sep 10.
  5. MyCAHP to discuss key issues about the implementation of Act on Sep 8.

Leadership and Ownership

Lastly and most importantly, the EXCO recognizes the diversity of talent among MASH’s 277 members, who extensively distribute across the private and public sectors (e.g., MOH, MOE, Special Education, PPUM, PPUKM, etc.), in Malaysia and overseas. In line with our 2nd priority to maximize the reach to You (Member), the Public and Student (SLP & Audiologist), please consider joining one of our sub-committees. Perks await. We welcome you!
As always, we love to hear from you – please see respective email addresses in the Facebook post dated August 24, 2020.

Sabah Chapter Coffee Chat

Hopefully I will get to meet and say Hi to every “name” in the Directory soon. Stay safe and take care!

Warmest regards,
