Profile: Magdalene believes in family-centered approaches therapy and enjoys working with families of children with special needs, and adults alike (speech and language disorders, voice and feeding disorders). She worked with the Sarawak Social Welfare Council in 2005, particularly at the early intervention centre, special school and rehabilitation centre. In 2005, she worked at the Sarawak General Hospital until 2013. Magdalene also had the opportunity to work at special school in Kuala Lumpur (2009-2011). She now offers speech-language assessment and therapy services at 20dB, and visits Kuching Autistic association and Borneo Medical Centre.

Profile: Carmen is a lecturer and practicum coordinator for the speech therapy program at The Education University of Hong Kong. She practiced as a speech-language therapist in Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur after graduated from UKM. She then obtained MPhil and PhD degrees from The University of Hong Kong. Carmen was the president of MASH in 2006-2008 and currently she is vice president of MARCHES.

A founder member of MASH, a member of The Royal College of Speech-Language Therapists (United Kingdom) and Speech Pathology Australia (MSPAA), she has served on the Boards of NGO’s, private organizations and consults for several International schools. As one of the SLT pioneers in Malaysia, she holds workshops at national and international levels. She runs her own speech and language centre in Kuala Lumpur.

She is a member of the Cochlear Implant Programme Core Team which is a multidisciplinary team consisting of ENT Surgeons, Speech-Language Therapists and Audiologists. She advocates the importance of early identification and management for infant/children with hearing difficulties including Auditory Processing Disorder Assessments (APD) for school-aged children. She emphasizes the importance of aural (re)habilitation following hearing management, especially in infant/children with hearing aids/cochlear implantation.
