FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK
31 August 1957 marked our independence, our beginning as Malaysia. “Sayangi Malaysiaku: Malaysia Bersih” may bring different connotations to us, in addition to its primary meaning. It is worth to reflect how much have we contributed to fill in our independence through our different roles; as profession, community member etc.
A big thank you to all of you, for your constructive input and thought to ensure MASH keeps its growth. As an effort to allow global network, I am pleased to inform that the Exco members are putting effort to affiliate with the International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics. This affiliation would MASH members to various benefits such as subcription to their journal, attend to their congress at reduced fee and opportunity to collaborate with international colleagues on matters related to our profession.
At local level, the Exco members are also working on improving our website to increase our engagement with public and enhance our professional look. We shall begin by incorporating special feature that will help service serching by location.
In addition to having high professionalism in practice, it is crucial for us to be aware about the legal aspects in our practice. Therefore, I would like to invite you to join the Professional Indemnity talk on 7th September 2019, 3 pm – 5 pm, at SVOFO Sunway Nexus, Kota Damansara. This invitation has been sent out to you earlier via email by the secretary. The professional indemnity insurance protects professionals from medicolegal claims such as false claim of negligence or breach duty in providing professional services or advices.
Ensuring a good conduct is important in our practice to protect ourselves for medicolegal claims. This include case note and report writing, as well as document keeping. Having good understanding is crucial, in addition to clinical knowledge and skills. Therefore, the Exco will organize a professional development session on 23 November 2019, aiming to enhance the basic understanding on medicolegal aspect in relation to documentation and other professional related topics. If you are the young clinicians (i.e. those practicing less than 24 months), you are strongly recommended to sign up in this learning platform. More experienced clincians are welcomed to attend as well. We will keep you posted about this.
On a different note, I would like to remind you to register with MyCPD version 2 at https://www.mycpd2.moh.gov.my/default.aspx. This system will be used to record your CPD point, as part of the Allied Health Professional Act’s requirement. You are encouraged to familiarize yourself with the system and track your CPD point based on the guideline. The exco are also looking through the related documents to identify any aspect that members may need support in this. Please feedback to us via firstname.lastname@example.org if you have specific concern or query in relation to myCPD.
To end this note, I would like to invite you to ponder on following note by anynomous – “Kemerdekaan bukanlah pengakhiran kepada penjajahan, tetapi kemerdekaan adalah permulaan kepada pembinaan Malaysia yang gemilang”
Let’s continue working hand-in-hand for a better Malaysia through our professional work because we can go so far, fly so high and do so much by being together!
Salam Kemerdekaan. Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!
